Meet Caroline Fisher
Artist and Educator specialising in Painting and Linoleum Printmaking
Caroline Fisher is a full-time artist who draws deeply from the natural world, particularly trees, plants, animals and birds. Her current work layers atmospheric painting with hand-cut linoleum prints to form richly textured landscapes, where mark-making and meaning converge. Many of her pieces have been inspired by her beautiful garden and countless trips around Britain. She likes working both within the landscape and from her studio, drawing, sketching, painting and printing.
Her artwork has been showcased in successful exhibitions such as her solo show at the Sheffield Art House in October 2024 and through her participation in Open Up Sheffield. Caroline trained at Sheffield Hallam University achieving a 2:1 in Fine Art and Printmaking in 1989. She then practised as an artist, exhibiting around the country in Sheffield, Leicester, Barnsley and Moffat. During this time she also worked as a sculptor, making scale models of rare breeds and as a community artist, which involved fire-breathing, stilt-walking and the construction of large scale procession sculptures. In the 1990’s her distinguished career as an art educator began when she completed her Art Teacher Training at Bretton Hall College, Leeds University.

“ Expressive paintings and hand-cut prints capturing the wild beauty of Britain’s trees, birds and landscapes ”
By combining such diverse experiences with her formal training, Caroline has become a talented multidisciplinary artist and educator whose practice bridges the studio and the classroom. She has thirty years’ experience working in arts education, including leadership roles in senior management as Faculty Leader for Arts, Music, Drama and Technology at Wickersley Partnership Trust. Caroline has spent her career championing creativity in education, shaping inclusive, inspiring curricula whilst always maintaining a close connection to modern contemporary art practices, both her own and those of other artists. Whether she’s working in her own studio or leading dynamic workshops.
Caroline believes in the transformative power of art to connect people, spark imagination and create expressive work that brings fun and inspires people. Caroline's work often reflects the natural world, seeking out pattern and colour with expressive marks, layering paint to conjure depth and texture and then pressing hand-cut linoleum blocks onto the surface. The results are intricate landscapes where nature and process entwine. Caroline believes art has the power to connect, shape, and transform both herself and others. Her creative ethos is simple: art should bring joy to all involved.
